Wellington learning

This week in Wellington learning I have been learning about law.

The activities we have done are a before and after web witch is where you put in boxes what you know before and after and also a activite where wrote down what laws we know.

Next week we are doing a role play about what we do in court.

PALS D

Today for PALs we got some of the skipping ropes out for the kids to play with. We got two long ropes out and we were busy at both and then when I looked at the courts their were at least 40 kids on the court when we were playing with the long rope I showed leadership by making sure little kids didn't get hit by the rope when we were spinning it.

PEER MEDIATION D3

Today for peer mediation it wasn't actually my day to be on duty but I had 

hurt my foot so I couldn't play sport so I decided to do peer mediation.

We went out to the field and started to walk and ask if anyone had any problems 

and then we found some little kids playing with sticks and it looked like they were 

fighting so we went over and talked to them and resolved the problem and then 

we took the stick and put it in the garden. Since that problem took so long the bell rang and we 

had to go class. I showed leadership by resolving the problem and telling the kids about the 

dangers of playing with sticks then we put the sticks away so other kids couldn't play with the sticks.

Kauri team events D

Today we had the teachers vs year 7/8 netball players play each other

In netball. We stood next to the court and the year 7/8 B team played the 

teachers first.  We started to cheer on the teachers and the teachers won the game. 

So we decided to cheer for the students in the next game when the year 7/8 A

team played and at the end of that the teachers won again. I showed leadership by 

not being silly when cheering on the teams.

PALS D

Today for PALS we couldn't think of anything to do, so we grabbed some skipping ropes

for the kakano students. We got some of the ropes to start off with but they were too

small for some of the kids so we had to get a different size rope for the kids to play with. I gave some pozi's out to the kids who had good skipping skills.  Lots of other kids ended up coming to ay as well, and in the end there were 30-40 kids there. I showed leadership by being able to control all off the kakano students at one time.

READING

This week for reading we did a test for reading and I think I did well it was my first level five test and it was pretty hard.

My next thing to do is to get my console  and identify what I need to work on.

MATHS

WALT: Explain the meaning of the value digits in a number.

This work shows that i can successfully identify colums and give the value of each number in each collum.

My next step is to get all the questions in the tests right.

Helping out around the school

Today I was showing leadership by helping my friend who got punched in the back. We were playing football when my friend got the ball off someone and then that person punched him in the back, he fell to the ground and we got a duty teacher to help then she said that someone needs to take him to the the sick bay so I helped him to the sick bay went then I went back to class.

PALS D

Today I had PALS with three other girls we had it with the kakano kids.  The KAKANO kids are junior kids so it is important to spend time playing with them.  as we are the senior kids they look up to us so it is important that we show good leadership and behaviour around them. Then if they have any problems they will come and see us because they already know us well because we play with them sometimes.  After we grabbed some hula hoops and a horse shoe throwing game with rubber rings, 

we played around with some students and then went to the hula hoops and played with them until it was time to pack up. 

PEER MEDIATION D

Today for Peer mediation the field was closed so I walked with the people on the court and we found our first problem.   On the playground a girl hit another girl with a branch and we asked them to apologise to each other.  Then we found another girl crying because a boy had stepped on her foot then kicked her, we couldn't solve the problem because this was quite complicated so we decided to put it in the doc and leave it for their teacher to figure it out. I showed leadership by being able to help people with multiple problems even though we did not solve them all, we knew what to do so the problem we couldn't solve would be resolved by the teacher.

KAPAHAKA D

Today for kapahaka we started by singing our new school song and then practising the actions 

to the song. After that we started to focus on another song and practice this new one, some of the girls got taken out to practice the poi and when the girls were away practising I helped some of the little kids with the actions to the song. Helping others is showing good leadership.

PEER MEDIATION D

Today for Peer mediation I started by going onto the field and we walked around the field once before for we got our first problem.  The problem was that someone kicked someone's ball then one of them

pulled the others collars and then started crying.  We fixed the problem by sitting down and talking to everyone to find out what had happened, the they said sorry to each other and we carried on walking around the field. I showed leadership by being able to solve this problem by getting everyone to talk things out and apologise to each other.

Koru Games

Over the last three days I enjoyed playing Football and being involved in a penalty shoot out.
 I really improved on my my movement off the ball and giving people support.
My goal for the next sport's tournament, I want to come in a better place than sixth.

RADIO D4

Today I had radio duty, since the person who I'm usually on with wasn't there, I had to find someone else to help. I found someone and we started on our script and songs.  We started off by talking about the flags at our school and then we talked about some of the rules of Disney world employee rules. After a few songs, we finished our duty and went back to class. Today I showed leadership by being able to cut the show short when needed to rather than getting in trouble by running over time and being late for class.

This week for Kapahaka we continued to practice the first half of a new song we started to practice last week. Then we sang the second half of the song and came up with more actions for the song. I like the actions that we learnt. I showed leadership today by helping show the little kids how to do some of the actions correctly.

Today for Kapahaka we only had a short amount of time so I showed leadership by getting into lines and not mucking around and getting ready quickly. We started off by singing our school song 

and practicing some actions and then we sang a song that I don't know the name of then we had to go because we only had a limited amount of time to do kapahaka this week.

PEER MEDIATION D

Today for Peer mediation we started off walking around the field and we found someone with a problem. The problem was someone was playing with sticks.  We fixed that problem then someone else had another problem.  A girl had been hit by someone's hand so we had to fix the other problem quickly then we tried to find the person who had hit her but we couldn't find the person anywhere.  We told her what to do if it happens again and then we were finished.  We were good leaders because we explained to her what she needed to do if this happened again and we were there to help her.

This week for kapahaka we started off with the school song and practiced it about three times. We weren't getting loud enough so we had to sing in our year groups instead of the whole group. We practiced another song that I can't remember the name of and we were given some lollipops. I showed leadership today by leading by example, I did what I was told and did not let the group down by not singing loud enough. it's important to sing as loud as we can so the audience can hear us.

Today for radio we started off by introducing ourselves and then we started to play the  

first song. We read some news about the school and the year 8's. We played another song then 

we read an article that I had found out about that I wanted to share.  It was about someone getting 27 million dollars from her dads will.  after that we finished with one direction. Today I showed leadership by getting a news piece ready without being reminded to and sharing it.

 Today for radio there was someone that couldn't do radio so I said I would do it for them.

We started of the show by introducing ourselves and then played the first song.  We read the

news and then played another song.   We read out the school news letter and then finished 

with a song called Happy by pharrel Williams. I showed good leadership and teamwork by helping out and doing a radio duty when I didn't need to.

SCIENCE

This week for science we did the aspro lava lamp witch is where we get
a Beroca sort of thing  a 1/2 cup of water 1/4 oil and a dropper with food
colouring and then we put it all in the cup of water band it makes a lava lamp.

READING

WALT: Identify language features in a text.

I have been working on identifying personification in a text

My next step is to be able to use personifacation in my writing
or to be able to be able to identify many language features.

KAPAHAKA D1

Today for KAPAHAKA we started off by singing our three main songs. Then 

we started to learn the first half of a new song.We started to make different 

actions for the song and we practiced it heaps. I showed leadership by putting lots of ideas 

forward for the new actions.

SCIENCE

Today in science we learnt about chemical reactions e.g baking soda and citric acid.
we did a activity were we put baking soda and citric acid in a balloon and then we put the balloon
over the top of the bottle to and then we poured  the powders in and then the balloon filled with air and one groups exploded.

WRITING

WALT: To write a persuasive speech  or an persuasive text.

This work shows that I can write a persuasive speech.

I have been working on using commas and contractions in my writing correctly.

my next step is to edit my publishing and then make my writing in to cue cards.

RADIO D2

We went to the juniors and there was no problems, so then we went to the senior area and we saw somone crying.  We helped them by asking if she was okay then we kept walking until it was time to swap over. I showed leadership by helping people even when they don't ask to be helped.

Today I had PALS with some of my friends and we decided to play football. I had to go and get some pozi's but I couldn't find anybody so I just went back to the game.  We had a few people but it wasn't enough to play football so I went and asked some People to come and play then we started. We made sure people got the ball and everything was fair. Some people scored goals and some of them were pretty good goals.  There were also some good saves.   The bell rang so we packed up and went to class. I showed leadership by making sure everyone got a fair and even go with the ball.

TECHNOLOGY AND ON THE BUS D1

Today I had technology at Lincoln school with the other year 7/8s.  We travel to Lincoln school on the bus.  I was showing leadership on the bus by only talking to the people next to me.  There are rules while we are on the bus that we are only allowed to talk to the people next to us. When we arrived at Lincoln I went to sewing class and started threading my machine and then we were allowed to start I made three hacky sacks.

RADIO D1

Today I had Radio station duty but I was running late for my duty.  At school we have a radio station and a handful of DJ's which I am one off.  Today when I arrived at radio duty the person I'm on with and Mr Mucullum were sorting what songs we were going to play and what articals to read. We started with our first song and one of the articles and then we played a few more songs. Then we stopped and we tidyed up because it was time to go to class and so we left.  This shows leadership by even if I was a bit late I still showed up instead of not coming.

PEER MEDIATION D1

Today I had peer mediation and since the field was closed I asked the people that were on the courts if I could do peer mediation with them and they said yes.  we put our jackets on and went to the junior area and then to the basketball courts. Then to the year 4,5,6 area and there were no problems so we went back to the junior area and there was a problem.  We tried to sort it out but the people involved kept running away so we had to get a duty teacher to help. I showed leadership by being able to get a duty teacher if needed rather than giving up and leaving it.

PALS D1

Today I had PALS and we were on kakano (little kids). We grabbed some skipping ropes,stilts and some hula hoops and let the kids play with everything. I played on the stilts and taught one little kid how to use them. Then I went to the skipping ropes and hula hoops and played with them for a we bit with the kids and showed them how to play with the things correctly. Then we packed up. I showed leadership by teaching the kids how to play with the equipment correctly.

SCIENCE

This week for sceince we did a experiment on 

conducting a fair test and today we are going to sceince with Mrs Steed

This week for writing we had to start writing

argument or speech my speech is on why Messi is better than Ronaldo.

Today for Kapahaka it was the year 6 open night. witch show cases what
we do in year 7/8, so Kapahaka had to perform. We preformed 3 songs
and the Haka.This shows leadership by representing my school.

Today I had PALS with some girls from another class.  We got elastic bands from the P.E shed and then we went onto the field and started.  There were lots of girls but no boys playing today. They made up these things to dance around with the elastic bands. This shows good leadership because we were responsible for taking out the elastic bands so we were responsible for making sure they were returned back to the P.E shed.

PALS

Today I had PALS and we were rostered to be on with Kauri students today.  We played a tag game called tricky tag and a game called Octopus.  We started off by playing Octopus and then people got board so we played Tricky Tag. No one had a problem today but if they did I would stop the people involved from playing and sort the problem out and then we could all start playing again.   Because we wear our jackets kids know who to come to when they are playing the game run by PALS.

This week for Kapahaka  we  started of with a few different songs and we are getting ready for the celebration of  learning assemblyat the end of the term.

This week for Kapahaka we started off with a few different songs and did the actions for
Pa Mai.  We are getting ready for the celebration of learning assembly at the end of the term. This is where we show the whole school and parents what we have learnt in kapahaka.  The senior kapahaka only perform together as the junior group are seperate for the assembly. I am looking forward to this assembly so I can show what great leaders our whole senior KAPAHAKA group are, we have practised for a long time so we are good at our performance.

28 JUNE 

Today I had peer mediation I couldn't find the people that I'm usually with

so I got someone else.  Then I found them so we went out onto the playground and field and walked and walked and walked but there wasn't any problems.This shows good leadership because we have to do peer mediation in pairs or threes.  Because I couldn't find the person that I am usually with, I found someone myself. This meant I could still do my peer mediation duty today.

This week for writing we have been finishing our Explanation for our careers board
i have already finished mine so i have been editing my writing.

READING

This week for reading we did a assessment i had mine on inference i did
well my new goal is to have better knowledge of vocabulary.

This week for discovery I have moved up to multistructural because i have been able
to use skills and keep the ball close and shot but not score.

UNISTRUCTURAL

For dicorery this week I moved up to unistructural because i have been i have been keeping the
ball close to my feet without using skills.

Today for reading we had to do an assement and a teacher activity and some must dos and prediction activitys.

This week for writing we had to write about what career we want to have when we are older I did a professional footballer.

PEER MEDIATION

15 JUNE 

Today I had peer mediation and I almost forgot to go, I saw my friend Jonathan who's on with me, it reminded me to go and then I got a jacket and went on the field.  I felt I showed good responsibility and leadership for remembering my duty that day and for not needing anyone to come and tell me.  No one had any problems today but we walked and walked until it was time to stop.

12 JUNE 

Today we had Kapahaka and we started off with a song and then we got on the stage. Then we 

practiced our songs for our end of term proformance, we practiced doing the actions and then we made sure we knew the words for the song. This shows good leadership because it is the end of term performance and it is important to practice so that my performance in front of the whole school is perfect and I do not make mistakes.

Today I had PALS with my friends and we decided to play football and we had at least

20-40 people there all kakano students there wasn't any problems just fair play and fun we gave out all of our pozi's we had to stop the ball every time the ball went out and then we asked someone to kick the ball in.This shows leadership by being able to control a game with multiple people and teaching people a new game.

This week for discovery I moved up to relational because we have used skills
and shot but not very accurate shots.

READING

this week for reading we did a follow up activitys teacher activitys must do's prediction sheet and vocab sheet.

PEER MEDIATION

8 June 

Today I had peer mediation I grabbed my jacket and an iPad.  We went outside on the field 

and walked and walked and walked around the field and no one had a problem today.  we went to the senior playground and no problems there either so we swapped.  When we walk around the field the kids know we are peer mediators because of our jackets, this also shows we are good leaders and responsible because we are allowed to be peer mediators out on the field.

5 June 

Today I had kapahaka and we started off singing some songs.  We had a go at the actions for the song, sometimes they were hard and we helped some of the others to practise, this way we all got better.  then we had to practice in our lines doing the actions for the song.

Today I got involved by speaking at the 7/8 relaunch at school and handing out food and drinks and making the food at GARDEN TO TABLE.I spoke about what learning is like in my class and how I get organised.

26 May 

Today I had Kapahaka and it was really fun. We reminded ourselves about some songs and actions,

we learnt a new part of a song and we went through the haka while the girls did 

some poi.  The older kids learnt the actions and we helped the little kids with the actions to the haka, this was great leadership as we could teach and help the little kids to learn.

25 May 

Today I had Peer mediation in the first half I was a a bit late because I was making my tostie and eating it when we got on the field we walked one lap with no problems then we went to the senior playground 

and there still wasn't any problems so we walked another few laps and there still wasn't any so we swapped when it was time to swap over dutys. Even though I wasn't needed by anyone today it's good to be visible as a leader I case I am needed by someone.

18 May 

Today I had peer mediation I had already got on the field as I had forgotten about peer mediation. I remembered quickly that it was my day so I ran to the room where we get 

the jackets and iPads from and went on the field.  I walked and walked and walked 

but no one had any problems and then it was time to swap over so we swapped. I feel I showed good leadership by taking responsibility to remember my duty and get out on the field quickly. 

KAPAHAKA #2E

15 May 

Today I had kapahaka we went over all the songs and some of the actions of the songs.  We did it over  and over.  We learnt a new bit of a song that was easy to learn and kept practising 

and then it was time to stop.  Me and my friends are going to do a haka video. This shows leadership by showing the importance of practicing to get good at Kapahaka.

BEING A ROLE MODLE TO THE KAKANO STUDENTS

14 March 

Today u was a role MODLE to the kakano student because at lunch time I was playing football and 

I was supporting other people so if they lost the ball I would say "unlucky" or "good try" and if the

other team scored I would clap (silently) and when we scored I wouldn't over celebrate.

Today I helped out around school by if someone fell over I would go over to help them like when someone accidentally knocked a kakano student over I would go and see if they're alright 

and if they weren't I would get a juty teacher to help

Today I went to technology and on the bus I was talking to my friends next to me and once or 

twice around me then we got to technology and did some science played football at lunch 

and watched some science videos.

Today I had PALS with three other girls we had it with the kakano kids so we grabbed some

students and then went to the hola-a-hopes and played with them until it was time to pack up. This shows leadership because we were teaching the horse shoe throwing game, it wasn't that hard to teach them and it was really fun.

March 8

Today I had kapahaka we started off with a song and then we sung it again then the boys and

the girls split up so the boys learnt the haka and the girls learnt poi  since I had forgotten the haka

I needed an expert who knew the haka to stand next to me and help.I think I showed good leadership to others because I wasn't afraid to ask a expert for help.We went over it so much our legs hurt from slapping our thighs.

CROSS COUNTRY E

March 6

Today the kauri students had cross country at halswell domain,the year Fours went first at 12:50

then the year fives after that then the year sixes went then it was my race the year seven race it was 

3 KM the longest race it was in and out of the trees I finished fourth Jack mitchell came first

Finn keogan came second Levi green came third then we had the year eights then the medal ceremony then we left.

Today I had peer mediation I had forgotten it was Monday until the person that I was with reminded me 

that we had it I ran to get my vest and a iPad then we walked around the field and the senior playground and no one needed help then it was time to swap over.

Today I had PEER MEDIATION with someone diffrent  because the person I usually go with had basketball team training so he got one of our friends to fill in for him so we grabbed our jackets 

and left without a IPad because they're weren't any left and then we left and walked and walked and walked and asked and asked and asked but know one had a problem then it was tim to swap.

Today I was a role model to the kakano team because my friend Cameron got pushed to the ground 

and I checked if he was ok and if he wanted a teacher.and I helped my friend brad after someone accidentally hurt him in a tackle while playing football and checked if he needed some help to class and to get up and then we kept playing.

Today I had PALS with Reia Sharah Nick and myself and we had it with the Kauri team and we played 

octopus and we had a few people to start with then after a few rounds we started gathering 

other people but they started getting silly and not listening and they wouldn't stop so we had to stop a we bit earlier.

Tday I had PEER MEDIATION and the person that was supposed to do PERR MEDIATION With me had Basketball trials and the other person was no where to be found so I had to find someone else 

to fill in for them so I found someone and then we went around the field twice and the senior playground and there was no one that had a problem and then it was time to swap so we swapped.

Only 2 of us rather than 3 we were walking around the field and there was no problems we had to

Today me and my friends had a league tourtoment at South hagley park. Our first game was against a Maori school I got my first run I ran straight at someone and got winded and we lost 3-5.in our next game we vs hilmorton and lost 3-4 in the next game we won 2-5 then we lost our next two games then we won and it was the end then we watched the final and cesnalwood won and then we left we came 5th

Today the year 7/8 student went to technology.We were out on the field playing football 

when my friend Jack hit someone in the face so we helped him checked if he was alright 

And then we kept playing,after that then someone knocked a little girl over so we helped her up and took her to the juty teacher and kept playing and I helped some others and then the bell rang so we went back and did some cooking.

Today the year 7/8's had technology at Lincoln primary school we had to bus I talked to the person next to me he was telling me about his neighbour,when we got to technology I had 

cooking we made spaghetti,and chicken noodle soup then on the way back I didn't really talk at all

There were no problems then we went to the senior playground and there was one problem someone said a swear word to someone so we told them the rules and then we filled out the sheet and they apologised and we went and we swapped with the next group.

Today I had peer mediation we were walking around the field Asking people if they had any problems

No one did until we got to the senior playground we saw someone with a hammer in there pocket 

We told a teacher and left and then swapped over.

I am excited for camp because we get to do lots of activity like high ropes,costering,kayaking,archery,parent activities.what I want to Achieve is getting to the top of the high ropes.i have a awesome bunk room with Teiken,Fletcher.

FEBUARY 23

Today the kauri team had swimming sports and house activitys first was the width (across the pool)

Then there was the lengths (up and down the pool) I did lengths and we had to wait 40 mins

When it was time for the lengths I sat on edge of the pool and then we started (freestyle) and I didn't get a place Then 10 races later (backstroke) we were of again I didn't get a place again then it was lunch Then there was the relays in my relay we came last then we had house activitys we played one game and then we left.

Febuary 16 

Today I Renemberd to do my duty and I reminded someone that they were on duty

We were walking around the field after a lap we saw a year 4 student without there hat on so we reminded Him to put it on but he didn't have one so we told him to go into shade he didn't want to but eventually he got him to. Then we saw a year 3 climbing a tree so we reminded her about the school 

rule about climbing trees (not allowed)and them we left and swapped over dutys.

PALS

Febuary 16

Today I had PALS( PHYSICAL ACTIVITES LEADER ).

We brainstormed ideas of what games we could play with the kauri and kakano teams Mr muller said its a good idea to keep it simpler for the kakano team and make sure they won't get bored and walk away so you could do 'octopus' or 'sneak up granny',but we could make it more complicated for the kauri team so we could play 'tricky tag' or 'dodge ball'. Then we played some of the games and Mr muller gave us some tips like to stand faceing the sun and the wind carring your voice.
